2024 TEACHX RECIPIENTS REVEALED

2024 TEACHX Recipients

  • The annual QCT TEACHX Awards celebrate another 31 Queensland teachers’ outstanding contributions to their school communities and the profession.
  • More than 120 teachers have received TEACHX Awards in their 16-year history.
  • A third of this year’s recipients teach in regional schools from the Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Cairns, Cooktown, and Rockhampton.

From Cooktown in the far north to the Gold Coast in the southeast, the 2024 TEACHX Awards continue to highlight inspirational educators’ achievements across Queensland.

The annual awards are hosted by the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) and recognise outstanding teachers from state and non-state schools, and early childhood and university settings.

Over the past 16 years, more than 120 teachers have received TEACHX Awards after being nominated by their peers and making it through the rigorous judging process.

Following a reorganisation of the awards structure in 2023 – in which five recipients were awarded per category instead of a single winner, to widely recognise the diverse range of exceptional teachers being presented every year – the prestigious state-wide awards celebrate another 31 teachers’ contributions in the classroom and beyond.

Their accomplishments range from improving at-risk students’ attendance rates, and creating projects to practise entrepreneurial skills, to implementing digital lessons that pair robotics with dance moves and introducing therapy dogs in schools.

For the second year in a row, a tertiary educator has been recognised for their service to initial teacher education in a university setting in the newest Excellence in Teacher Education category.

QCT Board Chair, Emeritus Professor Wendy Patton, congratulated the winners ahead of the TEACHX Awards ceremony in Brisbane on Thursday 24 October – the eve of World Teachers’ Day in Queensland.

“This year’s recipients continue a proud tradition of exemplifying the extraordinary work teachers do to improve their students’ education and inspire their colleagues,” she said.

“Their enthusiasm, innovation, and unwavering commitment to education have set a remarkable standard for excellence within our community.”

The TEACHX Awards are proudly sponsored by Principal Partners: the Queensland Department of Education, and Presenting Partners: TUH Health Fund, RemServ Lease, Griffith University and Schoolzine.
