To be eligible to work in any state, Catholic or independent school in Queensland you must be registered with the QCT.
If you are completing or have just completed an initial teacher education (ITE) program and intend to work as a Queensland school teacher you will need to complete an Application for teacher registration.
If you have been offered a teaching position ask the school to email to confirm the offer and request priority processing if possible. You are not eligible to teach until you have received confirmation of registration, initially via email, from the QCT.
You should apply for registration during the final semester of your ITE program. This allows the QCT to commence processing your application to a point where you can be granted registration shortly after you are eligible to graduate.
The application fees are reduced for graduates of QCT approved or accredited programs, for up to two years after graduation. You can still apply for registration after that time, however you will need to pay the full application fee and be assessed by the QCT as meeting qualification requirements current at the time you apply.
