Registered Health Practitioner Panel

Expressions of interest are invited from practitioners throughout Queensland to form a panel of registered health practitioners.

Panel members will:

  • conduct health assessments of relevant teachers; and/or
  • be appointed to the Professional Capacity and Teacher Conduct Committee (PC&TC Committee) for matters involving impairment.

The Queensland College of Teachers (the QCT) is responsible for a range of functions associated with the regulation of the teaching profession in Queensland, including discipline.  The PC&TC Committee is an internal committee of the QCT which decides minor practice and conduct matters.

From 1 July 2017, health assessments of a teacher may be required, if the PC&TC Committee reasonably considers a teacher to have an impairment, which may have caused, or contributed to behaviour that led to a matter.

An ‘impairment’ means a physical or mental condition or disorder (including substance abuse or dependence).

A panel member, other than the panel member who conducted the health assessment, will be appointed to the PC&TC Committee when determining the matter.

Eligibility:

  • a minimum of five years post-graduate experience in general practice, or five years post-fellowship experience with the relevant specialist college;
  • current clinical practice;
  • current, unconditional (generalist or specialist) registration with an approved registration board.

Psychiatry or psychology qualifications are desirable.  Regional applicants are encouraged to apply.

Information about the QCT is available at www.qct.edu.au.

Revised Closing Date:  10 April 2017.
