Narelle Morris has redefined what it means to teach Specialist Mathematics in a digital-first world. As a foundation educator at FisherONE, she has developed an innovative online teaching model that connects students across Queensland, including those in remote and rural areas. Her approach combines rigorous curriculum delivery with a focus on building relationships, ensuring every student feels supported and engaged.
Narelle's students consistently outperform state averages, with 57 per cent achieving an A grade in 2024 compared to the Queensland average of 41 per cent. Her success stems from her strategic use of technology, such as interactive digital whiteboards, personalised diagnostic quizzes, and one-on-one mentoring sessions. Beyond the classroom, Narelle has created 'Math Teacher Teams' - an initiative with the QAMT - which is a professional learning series that fosters collaboration and growth among senior secondary teachers statewide.
Her influence extends to curriculum development, where she has contributed as a Chief Endorser and Subject Matter Expert with the QCAA. Narelle's commitment to improving education is evident not only in her students' achievements but also in her efforts to uplift colleagues and shape the future of teaching.
