At just three years into her career, Yarrabilba State Secondary College teacher Brittany Watts has already reshaped the culture of mathematics learning at her school.

Brittany designed and introduced a Year 10 Advanced Mathematics course that has dramatically lifted student results and prepared learners for the demands of senior STEM subjects. Her program combines rigorous content with targeted extension and intervention, and the results speak for themselves: Specialist Maths A-level results jumped from 20 to 83 per cent in just one year.

Beyond the classroom, Brittany dedicates countless hours to running tutorials at lunch and after school, ensuring all her students feel supported. Her inclusive teaching strategies have been especially effective in Essential Maths, where her class achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.

Committed to her own growth, Brittany embraces feedback, collaborates with colleagues, and applies evidence-based practices such as Universal Design for Learning. Her drive, professionalism, and passion for mathematics have already made her a key member of the school community and an inspiring role model for her students.
