Outstanding Contribution to Teaching

Samantha Ephraims

Samantha Ephraims has dedicated over 20 years to enriching education in the Bundaberg region, with a focus on digital technologies and STEM subjects.

At Kalkie State School, she has developed a vertically aligned digital technologies curriculum and encouraged a culture of curiosity and innovation. Her hands-on approach has connected students with real-world applications, from exploring agricultural robotics on local farms to competing in international STEM challenges like RoboRave, in which her students have earned gold and silver trophies.

Samantha's commitment to inclusivity ensures every student, regardless of their background or ability, has access to high-quality learning opportunities. She actively secures grants and sponsorships to remove financial barriers, enabling all students to participate in excursions and competitions. Beyond the classroom, Samantha mentors her fellow educators, leads professional development workshops, and chairs the school's eSafety Committee.

Her influence extends to the broader education sector, where she advises on curriculum development and presents at major conferences on topics such as digital literacy and game design. Samantha's work not only prepares students for the future, but it also inspires colleagues and pre-service teachers to embrace innovation in their own practice.
