Nataleen Nixon-Kilburn

Nataleen Nixon-Kilburn's innovative approach to education has transformed learning at St Laurence's College in Brisbane. With a background in Regional and Town Planning, she has seamlessly integrated sustainability and technology into the curriculum, creating meaningful, hands-on experiences for her students, as well as for students and teachers visiting from other schools. Her leadership in developing a fully sustainable urban farm in the heart of Brisbane's CBD has provided a decade of real-world learning opportunities, blending environmental science, social responsibility, and cross-curricular collaboration.

Beyond her classroom, Nataleen has made a significant impact across the teaching community. As a mentor in the IEUA-QNT Early Career Teacher Mentor Program, she supports new educators in adopting future-focussed practices. Her contributions to the QCAA as a subject writer and confirmer have helped shape high-quality assessment standards statewide.
