Innovation in Teaching

Christine Vinaccia

Christine Vinaccia is pioneering a cutting-edge 3D holographic technology that is revolutionising learning for her students at Earnshaw State College.

In 2023, the school launched the Holobox project, a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance classroom teaching. Using 3D holographic displays to project interactive lessons, it creates a dynamic learning environment.

In 2024, Christine began testing the technology in her Year 11 Mathematical Methods and Physics classes. She partnered with Moranbah State High School colleagues to remotely co-teach using the Holobox.

The results were impressive. With its immersive 3D visuals, the technology has boosted student engagement. Interactive features like quizzes and challenges turned lessons into interactive experiences, sparking students’ enthusiasm and motivation. It has also improved accessibility, catering to various learning styles through online resources and digital tools.

The technology enabled seamless collaboration between remote teachers and classrooms, fostering a sense of community and expanding educational perspectives. Christine’s classes worked together on projects, enhancing their teamwork skills. The Holobox also supported professional development, allowing Christine to demonstrate mathematical strategies and experimental writing techniques more effectively.

Adapting to the Holobox, Christine had to overhaul her teaching methods and familiarise herself with new pedagogies. She travelled to Moranbah for a week to build relationships and ensure a smooth implementation. With ten years of experience in teaching senior maths and physics, Christine embraced this challenge, using her expertise to assist other teachers.

The Holobox project has not only modernised teaching but is also preparing students and teachers for a tech-driven future, highlighting Christine as a role model in this new educational landscape.
