Students at Sunshine Coast’s Siena Catholic College are benefiting from streamlined administrative schooling processes under the guidance of Paul Dionysius.
As a Digital Technologies teacher, Paul has led the implementation of the Digital Technologies program.
Overseen by Paul, students have developed an application that downloads student timetables, determines lesson times, and keeps students aware of their positive behaviour records. It is now being prepared for distribution to all Year 7 students.
Another application developed has aimed to replace the school bell system, automatically generating the bells for the year based on set school days that could also be manipulated remotely.
Paul himself has developed applications that map and detail staff duty locations, as well as cumulative house spirit point calculation.
Three of the program’s female students were selected by Apple to represent the IT industry. They were flown to Sydney to discuss their experiences at the Young Swift Developers Celebrations. These students were the only female students in attendance.
Paul’s expertise is highly sought through the many opportunities he takes to lead and facilitate professional learning at conferences locally, nationally, and internationally.
He has accompanied Apple representatives to present to school leaders in Guangzhou and Shanghai in China; was seconded by Apple to speak at a Gold Coast Summit; two events in Western Australia; and his Digital Technologies cohort has been invited to Apple Developer Academy at the University of Napoli Federico II in Italy.
